What is involved in Knoxville Invisalign treatment?
The Invisalign clear aligner system aligns teeth and helps to improve oral health by using a series of removable aligners. When used as directed, Invisalign is just as effective as traditional braces at treating many of the most common orthodontic issues. At your initial consultation, we will use x-rays and digital impressions to create a precise 3D image of the teeth. We will then build a customized aligner that is unique to your smile. The trays are constructed of a smooth, comfortable material that fits snuggly over your teeth. These trays are designed to be switched out every 1-2 weeks to keep up with the teeth as they move.
What are the benefits of choosing Invisalign treatment?
The biggest benefit of Invisalign is, of course, their invisibility. Another great benefit is their removability. Invisalign aligners are designed to be taken before you eat or drink anything other than water. This means you’ll never have to worry about food getting stuck in brackets or wires. They’re also meant to be removed before brushing and flossing. This makes it’s much easier to access your teeth and maintain a good oral hygiene routine. Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is incredibly important for orthodontic patients.
Since you can remove your clear aligners, you can avoid any food restriction. This is exciting because food restrictions are the biggest learning curve with traditional braces. With Invisalign, you don’t have to give up any of your favorite foods while you’re working on a straighter smile! Aligners do need to be removed before all meals so they don’t stain. They should also be cleaned and rinsed out with warm water once or twice a day.
With Invisalign aligners, your mouth won’t be irritated and poked by wires, and there aren’t any adjustment appointments, either. Invisalign wearers are still expected to attend follow-up visits about every 6-8 weeks, however, so that Dr. Allen Langford can be sure everything is progressing on schedule.
How does the Invisalign system work?
The Invisalign system is pretty straightforward. You will wear each aligner for about two weeks, and should only be removed to eat, drink, brush, or floss. As the aligners are replaced with the next one in the series, your teeth will be moving gradually, until they reach their final improved positions.
We will check to make sure treatment is progressing as planned when you visit Langford Orthodontics. You must change the aligners and wear them as directed. This is an especially important part of your success with Knoxville Invisalign. Your trays will be custom designed to fit your unique dental needs. They will need to be changed frequently in order to keep up with the shifting of your teeth as they begin to straighten. Not changing aligners as scheduled or skipping your appointments can quickly undo any progress that’s been made.
Every patient will respond to orthodontic treatment differently. Invisalign straightens teeth in a slightly different and less invasive way than braces. This means it can be hard to say with certainty how long a patient will need to wear them before seeing results. The average tends to be somewhere between 6 and 18 months, but this can vary widely from case to case. Treatment time depends significantly on patient compliance.
The average treatment time is based on patients following the provided guidelines. This includes wearing aligners for at least 20-22 hours every single day, during the entire course of treatment. Any small deviation from this can add extra time to the overall process. Invisalign can only work if patients follow instructions.
