Knoxville Braces Expert
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient Knoxville orthodontics tools we have. They are composed of metal or ceramic brackets that are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with Dr. Langford, these brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply the gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.
Knoxville braces are an excellent choice for correcting complex tooth issues. Because they can sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other treatments might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. Braces don’t require some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making Knoxville braces a cost-effective orthodontic option.
Knoxville Invisalign Specialists
Instead of brackets and bands, the Knoxville Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. Invisalign is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists, and is the top alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. The clear, smooth material is easy on the mouth, and doesn’t tend to irritate the gums or cheeks the way brackets and wires sometimes can. These nearly invisible trays will generally be switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series to keep teeth moving in the direction we want them to. The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed by Dr. Langford, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a viable option. A free consultation with Dr. Langford will be able to determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
